A Season to be Broken of...

Strange... it is very strange. These few days, I had notice an odd phenomena in the technological field. A few friends of mine suffers computer failure...

Case 1...

It is quite strange that you can makke a new friend by fixing their damned PC and this is the story. It was one of those night where I have no choice but to have my own dinner alone. After the meal, someone that I don't know call me to help him with his computer. He said that one of his friend introduces me to him (Hey, I'm Famous!!!). A little chat latter, I promise to visit him later...

After when I visit him, I had to face his damned system. It is a network card problem. His on-board networks interface is already dead and for some config on his network properties later, nothing seems to be back to normal. A few struggling minutes later I replace the broken network adapter with an PCI Network Interface and it WORKS...!!! e was happy of course but a few minutes later his happiness turns into dissapointment. The PCI network card failed to aquire an IP Address from the server just like his previous on-board network adapter had suffered... Damned it...

Though it was sad, but one thing really makes me want to laught like a mad man is than during I fix his system, he ask me what type of course I take at the college and of course as an Electronic Engineer student, I reply him with pride and when I ask him back, he said HE IS A COMPUTER COURSE STUDENT!!! It stunt me and make me feel too proud to be true... (HA, HA, HA...) CODE_SLACKER RULEZ...

Case 2...

My housemate Juztin had a few nasty problem on his system. According to him, his system suddenly blacks out whenever he tries to log in Windows. I ask him what he had done to his system before this damned problem arose. Juztin said that this problem occured after he had tried to install a game and that game prompt for DirectX installation and he did it.

The damned problem fcuk his system...

Andy tried to reinstall the system but eventually it doesn't fix the problem at all.

Then I began to suspect his PCI dispaly card is causing all the problem. We trash-opened his CPU casing and take out the PCI dispaly card. Since another of our housemate, Lek Chin also uses PCI display card on her system, I figure that maybe I could fix the problem by swaping both their display card...

After doing alot of tearing and smashing on Lek Chin's PC, we eventually prove that Juztin's WinFast dispaly card had meet its end...

The two of the capacitors on the board seems to be broken already and the picture below shows how...

Oh well, it seems like it is a good chance for Juztin to buy a new display card since PC Fair is at next Firday...

Yet Another Computer Poblems Solved by Me...!!!

Yup, before this blog, what I had just achieved is another great trobleshooting on my friend's system.

This is what I had done...

1. I fix their internet access problems by enabling Auto Assigning IP Address and remove his second Cnet network card. The dude assign the IP Address into 121.212.121.212, what a fcuk-off... (Now they can to file-sharing and web-surfing again...)

2. I remove all Prefetch files at c:\windows\prefetch\ folder (Classic...).

3. I Reconfigure the system's msconfig startup list and their service (My Fav...) (The dude's system got tones of Norton Antivirus Services at about 40 someting services and after the tweaks, the system got only 24 services left...)

4. Make a Boot File Defrag... (Makes boot files to boot faster...)

5. Disable Auto-Detection on the secondary IDE devices... (After the tweak, the system just take about 4 seconds to boot at boot screen... the dude was amazed somehow...)

6. Resetting the virtual memory in the range of 512-1024 MB...

7. Disable Dr.Watson Utility so that the system will not restart when facing any errors... (This solved the dude's major problem. Now their system will never reboot automatically whenever they're using it...)

8. Become MORE FAMOUS because my new friend recognize my talent in compuer tweakery... (Yeah, yet another happy day... ;) )

So, what I can say about tonight is that not only I fix the system, but it reminds me that I haven't reset back the registry settings on the Lab 2 computer... (sign) or I guess I will let it be like that...

But sadly, I can't fix the problem regarding the startup sound where there're no startup sound whenever Windows startup. Although I reset the startup sound, it only works for the next reboot, but not the next one... So, anyone who knows how to fix it can share their experience with all of us... Many Thanks ;)

what a fcuking moment to blog while enjoying my Nescafe Mocha coffee... Ah...

File Sharing Between PCs with RJ45

It has been a while for me to do file sharing with my room mate with the help of direct connection on the network card interface and I almost forgot about it. But a few days ago, one of my classmate, Alvin asked me on how to make a direct network connection between 2 systems and this reminds me about the direct RJ45 connection. It is quick, easy and somehow educational (I guess...).

So this is how you do it:

1. Enable File sharing on both the system (Either on the drive or just the folder you want to share. But don't forget to enable "Allow network user to change my file")

2. Download AngryIPScanner...

3. Connect 2 systems with a RJ45 cable each on their network interface card...

4. Launch AngryIPScanner on either one of the system (Or on both if you like) and enter the IP address of the opponent system and ping on the IP of the other system.

5. You will be able to ping on the opponent system and right click on the entry and click "Open in Explorer" and there you go! Now you're connected and you're free to do file transfer on both system and vice versa.

And you have it, a simple solution to file sharing...
